Sticky gas pedal
Feb 25

Since changing my motor, the pedal seems to have some resistence sometimes...as if it was stuck a bit....tought it was at the throttle body since the motor was probably stored on a shelf somewhere for a long period, so we lubed it up some. Well after a week, it still seems to do it and especially when at lower speeds. Its not all the time, so it makes me wonder if its the throttle body or not. When I check at the throttle body, it seems to me it moves freely.....I have another TB, but don't want to change it if it might be something else....
What else could it be???
Thanks!

Recall time?
throttle cable?
I'm not an expert on the throttle cable wires since mine is DBW but when I work on bicycles sometimes the brake or shifter cables have a hard time moving through their sheath or housing that they run through so I just squirt some lube into there and move the cable back and forth to spread the lubrication and it makes it easier for it to move and not stick.
Gas pedal?
On my old car the gas pedal was hard to push at times and it squeaked so I lubed the moving joints in the cabin by your feet and that fixed it.
Anyone else for suggestions?

Maybe adjust the throttle-cable on the throttle body bracket.

It's your throttle body. I'd put money on it.
Close it, and push it closed. Betcha it's a little stiff to release again. When you take your foot off the gas, the power that jams it back again is harder than what you're doing when you test with your hand.

I had this issue way back when with my '88 Accord. The TB worked smoothly with the engine off, but with manifold vacuum pulling at the throttle plate it was sticky. Cleaned the plate & bore, lubed the shaft and it was OK for another 10 years.

Yeah, I took a tooth brush and some intake cleaner and gave it a good scrubing.....then lubed the pivot points inside the car, then opened the cruise control box and lubed everything in there.
The TB was the colprit, it was squeeking when I was opening it by hand...so I gave it a good scrubing....the throttle response is terrific now...for now

Still seems to stick every once in a while, however its only after a heavy acceleration and then letting off quickly......that flip gate or plate or wtv is called might still have some gunk on the outer edge of it....I know the TB tunnel itself is squeeky clean.....no big issue...only happens once in a while

You need to adjust the tiny little screw just a hair that the TB bracket comes in contact with when closed. Like I mean a hair. that will prevent it from sticking. In all honesty your better off just putting your other unit on. That screw is notrious for breaking. If you are going to try it lube it up with a decent penetrant like LPS.

Thanks, I'll look into that

Ok, so I've decided I will change my TB. Just one quick question....do I have to buy a Toyota gasket or can I used gasket in a tube

The throttle body gasket/ As long as it's OK looking, just reuse it.
A little gasket in a tube to seal s*** up wouldn't hurt, though.

Yah it will be okay. The gasket is metal so if you wanted to you could use the copper seal spray stuff. Don't use gasket in a tube though.

I'm really starting to hate imports. Swapped the TB's, even cleaned it to perfection, cleaned the pcv, air filter, checked the spark plugs....now the SOB works worst
....ilding goes from anywhere from 1000rpm to 3000rpm between shifts and sometimes stay there until I give it a shot of gas....the rpm gauge looks like a tick tock clock when I push the clutch in while in movement...it bounces from 1000 to 2000 rpms....WTF!!!!
With all that said...the pedal doesn't feel sticky
...but WTF is going on? I didn't have irratic idling like this on the other engine...but the idling isn't control by the engine itself....up to now, I have my old computer and my old TB and parts.....
HELP before I run the thing off a dock LMAO
